The Department of Student Housing Affairs at the University of Warith Al-Anbiyaa, in cooperation with the Psychological Guidance Unit, organised an awareness-raising lecture for female students residing in university accommodation. The lecture addressed the impact of social media during crises, as part of the University’s ongoing efforts to promote digital awareness and mental well-being within the academic environment.
The lecture was delivered by Assistant Lecturer Arab Al-Shami, a member of the teaching staff in the College of Media. It explored the psychological and social effects of social networking platforms, warning of the dangers posed by misinformation and increased psychological pressure during times of crisis. The lecturer emphasised the importance of the conscious and responsible use of digital platforms.
The session also included practical guidance aimed at enhancing psychological balance among students, alongside active engagement and constructive discussions that reflected the participants’ strong interest in digital media and its broader implications.
This activity forms part of the University’s broader initiatives to strengthen digital awareness and mental health among students, in alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)—particularly Goal 3: Good Health and Well-being, through raising awareness of the effects of social media and reducing associated psychological stress, and Goal 4: Quality Education, by providing educational activities that foster critical thinking skills and promote the safe use of modern technologies.
